Inkling Explorations: August 2016

A description of a lady's dress in literature.

Sybert did not choose to prolong these amenities of welcome any further, and he stood quietly watching her while she buttoned her gloves. She looked very radiant to-night, with the candle-light gleaming on her hair and her hazel eyes shining with excitement. Her gown was the filmiest, shimmering white with an undertone of green. About her 189 neck the pearls gleamed whitely, each separate jewel a pulsing globe of light. Marcia glanced up and touched the necklace with her hand.

Movies I Watched In July 2016

Titles with nothing before them I watched for the first time.

Titles with ** before them are re-watches.

Titles with # before them I watched with my little siblings.

Descendants of the Sun ~ 2016 ~ 8 eps

Ah!!  This drama just gets better and better!

Leverage ~ 2008 ~ 1 ep

I need to watch more!!!

Full House Take 2 ~ 2012 ~ 6 eps

This is a seriously amusing drama, though the boys would benefit from having their heads knocked together.

The Princess Bride ~ 1987

The Friday/Saturday/Sunday before my birthday, Mom Mel and I were going to rent and watch the 3 Narnia movies.  When we sat down on Friday to watch LLW, Amazon wasn't working, so since we couldn't rent it, we wound up watching this movie.  It was tons of fun and I finally got to hear/see all of those quotes that I see all over!

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ~ 2005

We were able to watch this on Saturday night, and WOW!!  It was a treat!  I loved it and it definitely goes on my To Buy list.  The kids are darling.  And Tumnus.  James McAvoy would have made a splendid Fatty Bolger.  Lucy is my favorite.  Her faith and trust are a lesson to us all.

Prince Caspian ~ 2008

I didn't expect to like this movie very much, because I knew that they changed some of the details a lot....but it was amazing too!  And Ben Barnes is just swoon worthy!  ;)  Lucy is still my favorite and I really like how they portrayed the Lucy/Aslan relationship.

Anna and the King (1999)

Last night I sat down and watched Anna and the King with Mom and Mel.  When I prepared for the movie, and when we sat down and started watching, I had no desire to see the movie, I didn't really think I would like it.......I was never more wrong in my life!  I very much enjoyed it.

The relationships were well done.  The costumes were amazing!  I know that it's based off of a diary, and that some people say, "Her diary was fake", but I always forget that it was based of a true story.  I always think it's totally fictional.  But I really, really liked it!

This jacket is one of my favorites.

These two are soo sweet!

I loved seeing how these boys went from this, to sneaking cigars and smoking them!

LOVE this boat!

Awww!

Fa-Ling and her little parasol!

His smile and Fa-Ling running off down the dock!

I want to ride on an elephant!

This dress is so pretty!

Lady Tuptim.  Her story was so sad.

This is my favorite hairstyle in the movie.

They are too cut for words!

*sighs*

My (I think) second favorite dress.

One of the best scenes.
My favorite dress.

This robe is to die for!  I love the look on his face when he comes out and sees her waiting there.

When she informs him that she is going along to lend support to his story!

*cries*

*sobs*

*screams*  This is officially the best scene in the movie!

So sad but sweet.

A movie that didn't  end happily ever after that I really enjoyed!

It was an excellent portrayal of so many things.  I can't even think of all of them anymore, or find the words to describe them.  So for those of you who haven't....just go watch the movie!

Hummingbirds

I really, really, really like Hummingbirds.  They are such amazing little creatures!  So tiny, but so incredible!  About a week ago, we noticed one hanging around.  I hadn't hung our feeder up this year, so I quickly pulled it out, filled it and hung it up.  So far we have had two different ones visit, but my brother Sam was only able to get pictures of one.  It is a female Rufus hummingbird, who the kids have named, 'Her Ladyship'.

Things I Received for My Birthday

I thought that I would share with all of you the gifts I received for my birthday.  First, from my family.

Sweet hat.

Two of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem's cds, plus a High Kings and a Trinity River Band cd.

Stunning earrings.

Pretty mug.  I like dragonflies and butterflies.

Another book!  And my adopted older sister wrote me a little story!

And then yesterday, a package from my best friend came in the mail.

Eragon!  I've been wanting to read it for awhile.  In Grandma's Attic and Tilly, by Frank Peretti.  A really cool necklace and then of course our standard gift of chocolate.  And it was MILK chocolate!!

Isn't this necklace cool?!  It's paper beads made of magazine pages or something!
