Randomosity

I like to be random.
It's a lot of fun.
So here is a post about random me.

When I listen to certain songs that I haven't heard in years, but I loved as a naΓ―ve teenager.  NaΓ―ve.

The last couple of mornings when I've just woken up and I'm lying there in bed, my brain thinks dreamily of the nice balmy March morning and how it will be the perfect day for working in my gardens and playing on the lawn with my dog........then I come upstairs.

But on a happier note, can I just say....
 I LOVE THE GREATEST SHOWMAN!!!
Okay, I haven't actually seen the movie, but I've been listening to the songs (and watching the scenes that the songs are part of) and OH MY GOLDFISH it's amazing!!!  I can listen to the music for hours.  And especially these three songs.
Grrrrrrrrr.  It's refusing to let me put videos on here.  😠
Anyway, the three songs below.
This is Me
Rewrite the Stars
From Now On

Oh and this song.  I love it a LOT.  I've been listening to it like everyday for the last couple of weeks.
Eternal Love
I absolutely love the kdrama that it's from and I really should watch it again, but my computer hates the drama sites.  😞

A pet peeve: when people turn off the shower, but leave the shower head engaged.  It shoots me in the face.

Okay, so for a few years now, I've had the idea of (someday) writing fairytale and Jane Austen retellings that are set in an Old West town (think Louis L'Amour).  Just the other day, I had the thought that Mrs. Gardiner from Pride & Prejudice would make the perfect Fairy Godmother for Cinderella.  Then I thought, what about this:
Cinderella is Mr. Bingley's young step-sister
(Caroline and Louisa would make the PERFECT wicked step-sisters)
Colonel Fitzwilliam is Cinderella's 'Prince'
Snow White is Lady Catherine de Bourgh's step-daughter

What do you all think?

And some random cool pictures I found on Pixabay.

And that 'tis all for this day.
May the sun shine upon you and the wind blow warm upon your face.
See you later, alligators!

I'm Officially in Love...

I totally love this song.  I'm officially in love with Musical Theatre.  It's sooooooo cool!!

So, as you may have guessed by now, my first real musical was the 2017 Disney's Newsies the Broadway Musical.  Oh man!  I first learned about Newsies about 2 years ago I think.  A friend and I were trying to find something for a movie night (the kind where you're 4 hours apart so you watch the same thing at that the same time) and she asked if I had Newsies so I looked it up and thought it looked interesting.  Then somewhere here in the blogging world, I read a post where someone and her sister (sorry, I don't remember who) had gone to see the musical live and was raving about how Jeremy Jordan makes the best Jack Kelly (AMEN girl!!) and her post upped my interest a bit.  Then when I saw it was coming to Netflix, I was pretty excited but other things showed up that I was finding more interesting so I kept pushing it further down the 'To Watch' line.

Then.....I'd been watching the CW show Supergirl and Winn is just a hoot.  And I also have a bad habit of skipping around and watching random episodes of the CW superhero shows, so I watched the Flash/Supergirl crossover where Kara and Barry are in a musical.  And I noticed and commented on Winn/Grady's amazing voice.  Then I was watching a 'behind the scenes' for that episode and saw that Winn is played by Jeremy Jordan.  I think I knew that, but I just wasn't remembering, anyway, the next day I went straight for Newsies and completely ADORED it!!

So now I'm totally in love with musicals and I need to find another one to watch.  I mean, I've seen several musical movies, but it's not the same.

What are some musicals you all recommend?  Please tell me!!  I need more!!

And some sad news, Belladonna died yesterday.

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Okay.  So you all have heard me use the phrase, "When Irish eyes are smiling, sure they steal your heart away!" multiple times right?  Well my favorite male Irish singer, whose version of 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling' introduced me to the song, just released the official music video for it from his upcoming album, Emmet Cahill's Ireland.  I'm super excited for this album, guys!  I love Irish music, and Emmet Cahill, formerly and currently of Celtic Thunder is my favorite.  Also, this album has some of my favorite songs on it.  'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling', 'Irish Lullaby', 'Wild Mountain Time', 'The Parting Glass' and others!  Emmet did a Facebook livestream last night that I watched, and sang a few of the songs for us.  It's going to be great!!  Here is the music video though, and I'll post the link to the album below, which is now available for pre-order.

  Emmet Cahill's Ireland

Also, when mom pulled up Facebook for me to watch it, she found this joke posted by Celtic Thunder.  It gave us all a good laugh!

 Irish Joke of the week:

A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice to the crowd of drinkers. He says, "I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. I'll give $500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back."

The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan's offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. "Is your bet still good?", asks the Irishman.

The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back. The other pub patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement.

The Texan gives the Irishman the $500 and says, "If ya don't mind me askin', where did you go for that 30 minutes you were gone?"

The Irishman replies, "Oh...I had to go to the pub down the street to see if I could do it first".

Fairy Nymph

via Pinterest

Yesterday, I discovered something that saddened me a bit.  As I have mentioned before, I love Celtic Woman.  I was introduced to them 3 years ago, and their music has often been very encouraging.  It has also been a lot of fun to "get to know" the girls.  (No I have not yet been to one of their concerts, though twice they have been within 2 hours of where I live.  The tickets are just a wee bit expensive!)  Yesterday I learned that (although it happened a month ago), Mairead Nesbitt, the blonde haired, fiddling fairy nymph who first awoke in me the desire to play violin, has stepped back to focus on her own projects.  Now don't get me wrong, I am thrilled that she is fulfilling her dreams and moving on in her life, but she was my favorite member and I will sorely miss her.  I was sad when Lisa Kelly and Chloe Agnew (my second favorites) left, but their departure was nothing for me compared to Mairead's.  She has been replaced by a beautiful red-head named Tara McNeill who I am sure I will come to love, but I will very much miss Mairead.  She is still performing and recording and maybe someday I will be able to go to one of her performances and I am definitely going to by her newest CD.

Thank you Mairead for the talent and wonder that you brought to Celtic Woman.  You are amazing and Celtic Woman will not be the same without you.

Things I Received for My Birthday

I thought that I would share with all of you the gifts I received for my birthday.  First, from my family.

Sweet hat.

Two of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem's cds, plus a High Kings and a Trinity River Band cd.

Stunning earrings.

Pretty mug.  I like dragonflies and butterflies.

Another book!  And my adopted older sister wrote me a little story!

And then yesterday, a package from my best friend came in the mail.

Eragon!  I've been wanting to read it for awhile.  In Grandma's Attic and Tilly, by Frank Peretti.  A really cool necklace and then of course our standard gift of chocolate.  And it was MILK chocolate!!

Isn't this necklace cool?!  It's paper beads made of magazine pages or something!

Amazing Singers

So I just ran across the video of 13-year-old Laura Bretan on America's Got Talent.  I don't watch the show, I found the video on YouTube and this girl is amazing!  She sang opera and OH MY GOODNESS!!  The kind of voice that takes your breath away!  Mel B gave her the Gold Buzzer and.....it was priceless.

And then.....she sang one of my favorite songs, The Prayer.  She is AMAZING!!

I'm really proud of this girl and cheering for her!

Amazing Songs

Do you ever listen to songs and have a WOW moment?  This evening I was listening to a few Christian rock songs and had one.  They reminded me how truly amazing God is and how he cares for us.  Here are the ones that I was listening to.

Newsboys ~ My Friend Jesus

This song has always made me laugh....and then think, "This is so true.  What would this world be like is everyone Talked like Jesus, Loved like Jesus and Forgave like Jesus? This would certainly be a changed world!!"

Peter Furler ~ Reach

I feel the truth of this song so often.

Peter Furler ~ All In Your Head

I think that we would all benefit (I know I would) from remembering this a little more often!!!

Group 1 Crew ~ He Said

I know the truth of this song Oh! so well!!!  It has helped me through some pretty tough times.

Selah ~ One Thing I Know

Selah ~ I'd Rather Have Jesus

This was my Daddy's favorite hymn and I pray daily for the strength to be this way also.

Also friends, check out THIS post by Abigail.  Isn't it amazing?  I am in total agreement with it!!
