Quote Queste ~ February 2017 ~ Going to War

Today I am linking up with Melody Muffin's Quote Queste.  This month's prompt is:

Then my sister challenged me to take a pin I had pinned, and combining the two, write the QQ scene.  I hadn't been planning to write one.  This is the other pin.

And now, my readers, here is the final product.

No 16-year-old should ever feel this way.  Ever.  But, that’s what happens when you let your emotions rule.  Love is never an easy thing, but it’s even harder when the one you are in love with, or should I say were in love with - ‘cause I’m sure as blazes not in love with him now - is a poisonous toad.  I think I’ve learned my lesson now.  The handsome, dreamy, Prince Charming types aren’t always real.  He certainly wasn’t.  He had the dreamiest eyes, the most gorgeous looks, but boy did he have a venomous heart!  Like a pretty, shiny snake or beetle that may look perfectly harmless to the inexperienced eye, but is actually the most poisonous kind.
I feel like I’ve been to war.  Not that I know what it feels like to be in a war, I’ve never been in one.  Well actually, if you think about it, I guess being in a relationship with him was a bit of a war.  A war between what I knew was right, and what he wanted me to do…all of which I knew was wrong.  If so, then I guess I won this war, because I sent him away, hopefully never to return, but, as with all wars, you can never be certain that that evil will never return.

I hope you enjoyed it and be sure to check out Melody's blog and try writing your own!  So long!

July QQ

This is for Melody Muffin's July Quote Quest.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to post it in July but here it is now.

"Where is that boy?" Molly MacDonald wondered aloud.  It was 10:00 in the morning and she was doing her Saturday baking.
"I'll go see," volunteered her younger son, Colin, from the table where he was reading a book.  Since her back was to him, she failed to see the naughty twinkle in his brown eyes.  A few minutes later, over the sound of the electric mixer, she heard a heavy body hit the floor upstairs.  Turning off the mixer, she dashed quickly upstairs.  Coming to a halt in the doorway of her oldest  son's bedroom, she rolled her eyes at the sight inside.  Colin lay on the floor with his older brother, Duncan sitting on top of him pummeling him with a pillow.
"What is going on?" she asked, not sure that she wanted to know.
Duncan stopped whacking Colin long enough to answer.  "I couldn't sleep last night and it's all his fault."
"Colin?" Molly gave him the eagle eye.  "What did you do?"
"I had a dream about him," her younger son explained.
  "You had a what?"
"A dream.  Haven't you heard of the legend that if you can't sleep at night it's because you are awake in someone else's dream?  Well I had a dream about Duncan and someone else last night."
At the teasing tone in which he said someone else Duncan started whacking him again.  Molly crossed her arms, pretty sure that she knew where this was headed.  "What was Duncan doing in the dream?" she asked.
"He was on a date with Roberta!" and ducking another blow from Duncan's pillow, Colin grabbed another pillow from the bed and began hitting back.
Right.  "Why did the fight start?" she asked.
"Colin was teasing me because I wouldn't call Roberta and ask her if she was awake last night, too."
Duncan, at 25, was more reserved then his younger brother.  He had been dating Roberta McLean for a year and half and hated being teased about her.  So of course, Colin teased him unmercifully.
"Alright.  Enough," Molly confiscated the pillows.  "One of these days, Colin, when you find a girl, don't be surprised if Duncan pays you back, with interest."
"That's why I haven't found myself a girl, Mum," he grinned and kissing her cheek as he passed, he went whistling out of the bedroom and down the stairs.  Shaking her head, she smiled at Duncan and then left, closing the door behind her.

June Quote Quest

Every month Miss Melody Muffin (who happens to be my older sister) over at The Splendor Falls does a link up.  She posts a quote and then you have to write a scene inspired by the quote.  Melody kindly posted my scenes before I had a blog on her blog, but I am going to post my June QQ (I know it is a month late) on mine.

Angry murmurings filled the air as I ride down the avenue in front of a triumphantly smiling procession of Sentinian noblemen.  Things have changed since my uncle made the treaty with Sentina.  The people are no longer smiling and cheerful, but sullen and silent.  They no longer shout my name with honour and love, but whisper it with hatred and loathing.  Even the weather seems to disapprove.  Ever since the humiliating treaty was signed the sky has been full of gray and glowering clouds.  Humiliating not only because it is a treaty with Sentina (who has always been an enemy) and against Kamerat (with whom we have always been on friendly terms), but also since the only reason he made it was that the bewitching daughter of one of Sentina's most prominent noblemen caught his eye and he knows that he will never be able to woo her if our country is on unfriendly terms with hers.  The treaty gives them permission to cross our country to attack Kamerat and to appropriate any crops, shelter or livestock that they might need.  And because my uncle is only Regent, he made the treaty, a treaty that I loathe, in my name!  Is it any wonder that the people now hate me?  But my hands are tied.  The Sentinians hold as a 'sign of goodwill' (which translates to hostage) my younger sister, the person that I love most on this earth.  I know that she will be little more than a prisoner, subject to humiliations and annoyances of every kind.  And I am powerless to save her or my people, for at the first sign of rebellion against them, the Sentinians will kill my sister.

Note: Sentina is a Latin word meaning 'scum' (as in 'scum of the earth').
Kamerat is a Norwegian word meaning 'Comrade'.
