"It isn't Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy. "It's you. We shan't meet you there. And how can we live, never meeting you?"
"Caspian, dear," said Lucy. "You knew that we'd have to go back to our own world sooner or later."
"Yes," said Caspian with a sob, "but this is sooner."
Lucy leaned her head on the edge of the fighting top and whispered, "Aslan, Aslan, if ever you loved us at all, send us help now." The darkness did not grow any less, but she began to feel a little - a very, very little - better. "After all, nothing has really happened to us yet," she thought.
But know one except Lucy knew that as it circled the it had whispered to her, "Courage, dear heart," and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan's, and with the voice a delicious smell breathed in her face.
"That's alright," said Edmund. "Between ourselves, you haven't been as bad as I was on my first trip to Narnia. You were only and ass, but I was a traitor."
Then someone else, whose face was vaguely familiar, had slipped an arm under her from the other side. There was a lot of shouting going on from the ship, heads crowding together above the bulworks, ropes being thrown. Edmund and the stranger were fastening ropes around her.
~
Last of all came the stranger - a golden-headed boy some years older then herself."Ca - Ca - Caspian!" gasped Lucy as soon as she had breath enough.
It's been so long since I've read Voyage. Such perfect quotes. I love all of them.
ReplyDeleteI just read it for the first time and thoroughly loved it!
DeleteOne of the best series EVER! I have read it at least twice all the way through and some of my favorites more than that.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about the movies? I adore the first one, because I felt like it really captured the Christian analogy elements and the world through the eyes of a child. I am not crazy about Prince Caspian in general, mainly because I didn't like his relationships with Peter or Susan. Dawn Treader I liked better than Caspian, but not as much as Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe. If you can get past the green mist addition it's not too bad.
Also, which child is your favorite? Mine is Edmund, because he is the one who starts off shaky and makes an excellent turn around. I thought the actor they chose for him was excellent as well :)
I didn't really like the books when I read the the first time around, I only read The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, The With and The Wardrobe, A Horse and His Boy and Prince Caspian. That was 2 years ago and I think it was because I was still in a high from reading LOTR for the first time 6 months previously. I liked them more this time, and I finished them all.
DeleteI haven't actually seen the movies, but from what I know of them, I think that The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe will be my favorite.
My top favorite is Lucy (I identify a lot with her) with Ed and Peter second and Susan third. Of all the guys that ever show up, Caspian is my favorite and I really liked how he got to go into their world for a few minutes like he had always wanted to! And I like to think that Susan did eventually 'come back to the faith' and when she died, went to Narnia, but she told and taught her children and grandchildren about Narnia.
